Sacramento, CA, April 7, 2021—AAF California Club Leaders: The hearing on the Commercial Mail bill scheduled for April 5 was cancelled at the request of the sponsor, State Senator Monique Limon. It is our understanding that she does not intend to further pursue the issue in this session of the legislature and the bill is now dead. I will let you know if the situation changes.
Thank you to the California clubs that signed on to the letter of opposition. Thank you also to AAF District 14 Governor Heather Smith who participated in a virtual meeting with Senator Limon’s staff to explain the problems with the proposal.
This is an excellent example of how grassroots activity can help defeat harmful legislation, and another tangible benefit of membership in AAF and local ad clubs.
