5 Tried & Tested Recruitment Strategies for Your College Chapter
College chapters across the country present their student members with the opportunity to gain hands-on advertising experience, build their resume by engaging in professional development activities and create an integrated advertising campaign for a major brand by participating in the National Student Advertising Competition before they graduate. In addition to crafting a valuable experience for their students, faculty advisors are instrumental in recruiting new members for their college chapters. We asked a number of professors and student leaders on various campuses to share the strategies they use to not only attract new members but also retain existing ones.
Fundraising Mad Men Style
Fundraising is critical for any college chapter. The trick is to find a fundraising event that is (1) fun and exciting for all the AAF college chapter participants (2) broad enough in appeal to attract other students (and, maybe, faculty and even community members) and (3) profitably “do-able” for busy students. Mad Men makes for a profitable and highly entertaining college chapter fundraiser. At least it did for one of our student chapters. This PDF outlines an overview of one collegiate chapter’s approach.
Crowdfunding Your Chapter's Activities
NSAC teams and college chapters are always looking for innovative ways to raise money for trips, events, supplies, etc. Last year, Johnson and Wales University’s student advertising agency, Candlelight Advertising, launched a fundraising campaign using the international crowd funding site IndieGoGo to raise money for their trip to the district competition in Boston.
