Arielle Garcia

Chief Privacy Officer, UM

Arielle Garcia is UM’s Chief Privacy Officer, a newly-created role she assumed in July 2020 as the industry increasingly focuses on privacy, brand safety and media responsibility. In this role, Arielle oversees UM’s Privacy Practice, including setting the strategic vision and direction, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and creating educational courses, training and thought leadership pieces on privacy and brand safety. Arielle also provides guidance to clients and internal teams on privacy-related matters and is responsible for building and scaling UM's consulting offerings around privacy, trust and brand safety. 

Arielle is the agency’s leading expert on privacy, and has played a key role in cementing UM’s standing as the industry leader in privacy and brand safety.  In addition to her role as Chief Privacy Officer, she serves as head of Business Operations and Compliance globally for the ExxonMobil and Accenture accounts. 

During her tenure at UM, Arielle has developed industry-leading work for clients, partnering closely with them to future-proof their brand protection strategies to account for new and emerging risks, evaluating intersecting trends in consumer sentiment and data regulation, and identifying practical solutions tailored to a broad spectrum of client needs. Arielle also spearheads UM parent company IPG Mediabrands Privacy Taskforce, participates in the Mediabrands Media Responsibility Taskforce and leads the Client Privacy Champion Network across all of IPG. 

Arielle is a member of the 4A’s Privacy Committee, Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Business and Legal Affairs Committee and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She also participates in Women in Security & Privacy (WISP) Tandems, a peer-to-peer mentoring program for women working in the privacy and security industries as well as the She Runs It mentorship program that connects experienced industry professionals with aspiring talent.

Arielle was recently recognized as a Crain’s New York Business “20 in their 20s” and featured on Business Insider’s list of “21 Advertising Execs Finding New Ways To Target People In A Privacy-Centric World.”

Arielle lives in New Jersey with her husband, dog and cat. In her spare time, Arielle enjoys rock climbing, traveling, cooking and writing. She has served as a research assistant on the intersection of psychology, law and nuclear weapons non-proliferation, and her paper on the “Psychology of Nuclear Choice” has been featured by the Lawyers Committee on Nuclear Policy, an NGO that drives research and advocacy in support of the global elimination of nuclear weapons and a more just and peaceful world. Arielle holds a JD from Fordham University School of Law.
