Shelley Magee

Sales Manager, ABC Columbia

Shelley Magee has been a member and leader within AAF District 3 of The American Advertising Federation for nearly 20 years. She began as an active volunteer in AAF of the Midlands, eventually becoming President in 2008.  She then took her leadership abilities to District 3 and was elected Governor in 2012. Her great work has had a profound effect on the success of both the Club and District.

As District Governor, Shelley instituted the widely successful Quality Club Competition. This program gives District 3 Ad Clubs tools for strong leadership and templates to follow for success.  It then rewards them for outstanding accomplishments in different areas of operations.  As a result, District 3 has produced nine AAF National Clubs of the Year since the program was implemented.  As past Governor, Shelley remains active in the District and continues to educate and inspire new club board members and leaders. In addition, she helps assure the District’s financial stability by helping to raise thousands of dollars through the sponsorship programs she has developed.

Shelley was elected Chair of the AAF Council of Governors in 2016, where she could help with the success of AAF Clubs and Districts across the country.  Together with the other officers and members of the COG, she helped develop the Council’s first strategic three-year plan to help provide continuity in leadership, values and goals from year to year. Shelley’s vision ensured that the plan would be woven into the overall goals of AAF and become a valuable tool for Governors in the leadership of their own Districts. An integral part of the plan was the creation of AAF University, a series of video presentations that provide AAF Club leaders across the county with the tools they need to grow, adapt, and position their organizations for success.

Like Pat Martin, Shelley has been a role model and mentor to countless District Governors and Club Presidents. One would be hard pressed to find a volunteer whose contributions have resulted in as much growth and innovation—at the Club, District, and national level—as Shelley Magee.  She is a worthy recipient of the Pat Martin Excellence in District Leadership Award.
