Professor Chilabato began his career in advertising as an advertising account executive for a newspaper and 22 years later had a resume that included job titles such as Advertising Manager, Corporate Director of Advertising and Public Relations, and Vice President of Marketing for national and regional retailers as well as textile manufacturers. He began his teaching career as a Lecturer in marketing for Providence College and joined Johnson & Wales University as a fulltime professor in the Advertising program in 1999. Oscar is committed to advancing student learning in advertising and developing curriculum that mirrors industry needs His courses range from digital media planning to creative concepts and strategy. Twenty years ago he started an AAF college chapter and formed a student run ad agency “Candlelight Communications”. As co-faculty advisor, Oscar has helped lead the team to nine NSAC district wins and have advanced to the finals eight times and this past year, the JWU team winning the 2017 NSAC championships. For the past 4 years, he has served as a member of the National Education Executive Committee of the American Advertising Federation and also serves as a member of the National Advertising Review Board of the Advertising Self Regulatory Council.
