Muhammad Al-Kahlout

Chair, American Advertising Awards, AAF Birmingham

The American Advertising Federation is excited to announce Muhammad Al-Kahlout, AAF Birmingham American Advertising Awards chairman, is this year’s recipient of the Chic Davis Memorial Award. Known to his friends and colleagues as Mo, this competition enthusiast accomplished great feats, solidifying Birmingham, AL, as a noteworthy creative community.

Created to honor Chic Davis, a long-time member of the AAF, whose years of service were committed to the success of the American Advertising Awards, this distinction celebrates those who champion the Awards and successfully work to elevate the program’s image, financial success and awareness among entrants and members.

As a result of Mo’s commitment and vision to grow the local tier of the competition, AAF Birmingham received 689 entries, the most ever from both students and professionals, and a 41% increase from the previous year. Entries came from 91 market entrants – also a record number and a 16% increase from the previous year.

His vision and determination extended beyond the entries and competition aspects resulting in a successful gala. According to his co-chair, more than 500 were in attendance, a 65% year-over-year increase. Thanks to the awareness he generated and the resulting participation (and sponsorships), AAF Birmingham profited more than $25,000 from the annual event.

“It was a unanimous committee decision in selecting this year’s honoree. His unwavering commitment to his position and desire to advance the American Advertising Awards was evident in his creative approach, attention to detail and the results are undeniable proof he is worthy of this great acknowledgement,” Michele Massey, national American Advertising Awards Committee chair, shared.
