Top Agencies and Brands Awarded at the 2018 National American Advertising Awards in Chicago

BBDO New York’s "The Talk" Wins a "Best of Show" National ADDY Award; Brigham Young University's BYU AdLab Wins "Best of Show" in the Student Division for GE's "One More Giant Leap".


CHICAGO, IL, June 8, 2018
—The internet commercial about racial bias created for Procter & Gamble earned BBDO New York Best of Show in the American Advertising Awards national competition. In addition to a Gold ADDY Award and Best of Show in Internet commercials, the spot earned a Gold ADDY Award for copywriting. BBDO NY won nine other Gold ADDY Awards for work for Snickers, General Electric, Downtown Records, Bacardi and one silver for Johnson & Johnson.

The BYU Adlab at Brigham Young University won its second straight student Best of Show for a short film commercial for General Electric. 

BBDO New York also won a Mosaic ADDY Award for an integrated campaign for GE called “Balance the Equation,” designed to celebrate women scientists and inspire more women to enter science, technology, engineering and math fields. Mosaic ADDY Awards recognize work that exemplifies a spirit of diversity and inclusion.

Lindsay Lockwood of Keystone College won a Gold Student ADDY Award and a Mosaic ADDY Award for her series of illustrations entitled “Presidential Quotes,” while Samantha Richardson of the University of Alabama at Birmingham won a Gold ADDY Award and Mosaic ADDY Award for “Fountain Heights,” a campaign to preserve a historic Birmingham neighborhood that was central to the civil rights movement. 

The “Real As It Gets” television campaign for Chipotle from Venables Bell & Partners won a Gold ADDY Award and a special judges’ award for its use of humor. 

Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco won 10 Gold ADDY Awards for work for Stacy’s Pita Chips, Doritos and Mountain Dew, Xfinity Home and Common Sense Media, while Adjective & Co. from Jacksonville Beach, Fla. won six Gold ADDY Awards for work for Whalebone Media. GSD&M, Austin and Tatum Design, Birmingham, Ala. each took home for Gold ADDY Awards. 

National ADDY Award Winners were honored Friday, June 8 at the American Advertising Awards ceremony, during ADMERICA 2018, the AAF’s annual national conference. The winners were selected from more than 34,000 entries nationally and won at local and regional levels before advancing to the national competition.
