Koranda will be honored on June 9 in New Orleans for his significant contributions to advertising education.

WASHINGTON DC,  May 11, 2017—Awarded annually, the Distinguished Advertising Educator Award recognizes the best advertising professors in the country. David Koranda, Senior Instructor II at the University of Oregon has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 award. His cutting-edge teaching methods and unparalleled commitment to student mentorship embodies the professional dedication that the recognition seeks to highlight.

Nominees must demonstrate excellence in teaching and student advisement, a record of scholarly research, publications and professional experience as well as active involvement in advertising organizations, the industry, academia and the community.

Koranda spent over 20 years working with ad agencies including Cappelli, Miles and Wiltz, Tracy Locke and BBDO working on media and strategy for brands such as McDonald’s, Pepsi and Seven Up, among others. In 1997, he began teaching at the University of Oregon. Koranda is a member of the National Advertising Review Board and a member of the AAF’s National Executive Education Committee.

One former student summed it up best: “He helps us understand what each career path is all about, while also helping to mold us into the best version of ourselves.” His accomplishments have set the bar that much higher for advertising educators across the country, helping the AAF execute its mission of developing exceptional talent for the advertising industry.

Koranda will be honored at the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) Luncheon during ADMERICA, AAF’s national conference, on June 9 at the Roosevelt New Orleans. Each year, ADMERICA brings educators together with leading advertising professionals, agencies, clients, media companies and college students under one roof for education, inspiration, innovation, collaboration and celebration of the advertising industry. The conference also honors the industry’s best work during the American Advertising Awards and Mosaic Awards, as well as showcases future talent during the NSAC finals.
