As college students, you're no strangers to the barrage of advertisements and clickbait headlines that constantly fill your screens. You're also no strangers to the inherent biases that can seep into research studies, either intentionally or subconsciously. But did you know that people sometimes outright lie in research surveys? It's an uncomfortable truth, but one that must be addressed if we're to trust the data we're presented with. In Infillion's presentation, "People Lie: How to Suss Out the Truth in Research," Jennifer Barron will equip you with the tools to identify and account for these lies, whether they stem from embarrassment, social desirability, or any other source. We'll explore the differences between qualitative and quantitative data, and how each can be vulnerable to dishonesty. By the end of our talk, you'll be empowered to analyze research data with a critical eye, ensuring that you're not being misled by misleading information.
