AAF Mosaic Forum Panelists Announced


WASHINGTON, D.C.—Topics were announced this week for the 2008 Diversity Achievement and Mosaic Awards & Forum. The forum will include two sessions, "Sustainability: Tactics for Retaining Multicultural Talent" and "Creating a Successful Model for Client-Agency Partnerships." The forum, an integral component of the program, provides a platform for corporate leaders to candidly address current issues facing the advertising industry, particularly within the areas of diversity and multiculturalism. The program has become the primary diversity and multicultural program during Advertising Week New York and will be held September 24, 2008, at the New York Athletic Club.

Forum Session One
"Sustainability: Tactics for Retaining Multicultural Talent"


The forum will open with a presentation on the retention and promotion of multicultural talent in the advertising industry and the perceptions versus the realities of these as viewed by recruiters, senior executives and alumni of AAF's Most Promising Minority Students Program. The research project was conducted by Dr. Rochelle Ford, associate dean, Center of Excellence in Advertising at Howard University. Panelists will discuss their own challenges with retention and promotion, as well as tools that they have used to address these issues.

Forum Session Two
"Creating a Successful Model for Client-Agency Partnerships"


This forum will discuss strategies for building successful partnerships between clients and ethnic and general market agencies. The panelists will describe the development of the partnership between Disney Destinations LLC, Carol H. Williams Advertising and mcgarrybowen, as well as discuss the elements of a good partnership. In addition, Disney Destinations LLC will present some examples of recent work that has been the product of this partnership.

The AAF hosted its first Mosaic Awards & Forum program in 2001 to recognize successful multicultural marketing and diversity efforts. In 2004, the AAF and its District Two joined forces to present the Diversity Achievement and Mosaic Awards & Forum. District Two represents roughly 10 percent of AAF club membership and covers the regions of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
