Re: DTC Pharmaceutical Advertising Amendment Defeated

Just a little while ago, the amendment introduced by Senators John Edwards (D-NC) and Tom Harkin (D-IA) that would have virtually eliminated broadcast advertising of prescription drugs was defeated by a vote of 26 yeas to 69 nays.

Thank you to all who called or e-mailed their Senators. This outstanding grassroots response paid off in an important victory for the advertising industry and American consumers. Thank you again for your tremendous effort in generating grassroots opposition to the DTC advertising amendment introduced by Senators John Edwards (D-NC) and Tom Harkin (D-IA).

Click herefor a list of the Senate vote tally. A "nay" vote was a vote in support of advertising. Please check to see how the Senators from your state voted. If one or both of them opposed the Edwards/Harkin amendment, if would be very helpful to take a moment to call or email and express thanks for their support of DTC advertising.

All Senators can be reached by calling (202) 224-3121. Senators' Web pages and e-mail can be accessed through the Senate Web page at www.senate.gov.

Do not hesitate to call either of us at 1-800-999-2231 if you have any comments or questions.
