Re: Outdoor Advertising Legislation

I recently contacted you about an important outdoor advertising issue in the Kentucky legislature. Senate Bill 155 would allow outdoor advertising companies to reasonably control vegetation around existing billboards.

The bill has passed the Senate and on Tuesday passed in the House Transportation Committee by a vote of 19–1. The next step is a vote by the entire House, but time is short because the legislature is scheduled to adjourn next week.

The focus now is to target House Speaker Jody Richards and the rest of House leadership. By calling the 800 number below, you can leave a message for EVERY member of the House leadership with one quick phone call. The same message can be automatically generated and sent to all the committee members.

All you need to do is call the message line at (800) 372-7181 and ask to leave a detailed message for the members of House leadership: Reps. Jody Richards, Rocky Adkins, Larry Clark, Rob Wilkey and Charlie Hoffman. Be sure to identify yourself and the bill number (Senate Bill 155) and leave a return phone number. The message is simple:

"Please support Senate Bill 155 to allow vegetation control around existing billboards to promote economic development, job creation and tourism in our community."

Please forward this to other members of your ad club and ask them to make calls. This is an excellent opportunity to show support for the outdoor advertising members of your club and to further demonstrate the value of their membership.

Thank you for your assistance. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments.
