Jeff Perlman Jeff Perlman joined the American Advertising Federation headquarters staff in December 1991, as vice president – government affairs. He was promoted in October 2000 to executive vice president – government affairs and general counsel and again in November 2008 to chief operating officer. Perlman directs the AAF’s government relations activities on the national, state and local levels, protecting the interests of the AAF nationwide membership.

Perlman recommends industry policy and positions in response to both legislative and regulatory issues affecting advertising. He serves as the AAF’s key government affairs point person reporting to the president, board of directors and strategic national committees. Perlman also supervises the AAF’s state government activities, specifically linking the AAF local legislative structure to achievement of national government objectives.

A veteran lobbyist, Perlman previously directed the legal and regulatory affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. At the chamber, Perlman prepared policy proposals and served as liaison to legislators, regulators and their staffs. He has accumulated considerable experience working with the Commerce and Judiciary committees. Perlman’s particular legislative expertise includes product liability reform, state and federal regulatory conflicts, response to Federal Trade Commission regulatory proposals and serving as spokesman on government concerns.

Prior to his 13-year stint at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Perlman was a litigation attorney for Reavis and McGrath in New York City, law secretary to the United States District Court of New Jersey and an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia.

Perlman holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Columbia University Law School and a B.A. in Political Science from the George Washington University.
