AAF President & CEO Snyder to Address Ethics at Southern Methodist University

Exxonmobil Lecture Series at SMU Presents "Advertising: A Call to Reason," February 5

The ad industry's pros and cons regarding truth, fairness, taste and decency will be debated by four national leaders in the field, including AAF president & CEO Wally Snyder, at "Advertising: A Call to Reason." This is the second annual ExxonMobil Lecture on advertising, media and communications ethics hosted by the Temerlin Advertising Institute at SMU's Meadows School of the Arts. The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, in Caruth Auditorium of the Owen Arts Center on the SMU campus, with a dessert reception following. Admission is free; however, tickets are required and may be obtained by calling the Meadows Ticket Office at (214) 768-2787.

Additional participants include moderator Michael Wilson, vice president of global advertising sales, The Wall Street Journal; Jim Guthrie, president, National Advertising Review Council; and Diane Fannon, principal, The Richards Group.

ExxonMobil has endowed the lecture series through a grant to SMU's Temerlin Advertising Institute. The grant supports SMU's goal of expanding its emphasis on ethics not only in its diverse communications programs but in events offered to the public. The 2004 lecture is sponsored by the Temerlin Advertising Institute at SMU's Meadows School of the Arts, The Wall Street Journal, the Dallas Advertising League and the Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility at SMU.
