Position Description

Job Summary

Provides database applications for programming, trouble shooting and security

Maintains information technology systems and assists staff with computers, software and other IT issues; researching and implementing technological strategic solutions

Essential duties and responsibilities

Database Management and Information Technology

  • Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools
  • Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
  • Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers verbally
  • Enrolling users and maintaining system security
  • Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement
  • Controlling and monitoring user access to the database
  • Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
  • Planning for backup and recovery of database information
  • Maintaining archived data
  • Backing up and restoring computer systems
  • Contacting database vendor and computer maintenance vendor for technical support
  • Generating various reports by querying database
  • Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects
  • Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center
  • Verifies application results by conducting systems audits of technologies implemented
  • Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements, in conjunction with computer maintenance vendor

  • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to execute projects and achieve the organization’s goals
  • Other duties as assigned
